Over the weekend, a vehicle fire near Arrowhead Trailer Court resulted in one person being injured. The incident occurred on Sawmill Creek Road around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Responding to the emergency call, the Sitka Fire Department dispatched one ambulance and a fire engine, manned by eight firefighters, to tackle the blaze. Upon arrival, the crew encountered a Ford Explorer engulfed in flames.

One individual affected by the fire was promptly taken to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center to receive treatment for burn injuries. According to Sitka Fire Department Chief Craig Warren, the firefighters managed to control the fire within approximately three minutes. Despite their quick response, the vehicle was declared a total loss, and a nearby trailer suffered minor damage.

Chief Warren also mentioned that an investigation is currently underway to determine the fire’s cause. The swift action of the fire department helped prevent further injuries and property damage.
