Early in the morning on April 8th, 2024, the Sitka Police Department was alerted to a severe automobile incident involving a single vehicle at the junction of Lake Street and Lincoln Street. Upon arriving, officers discovered an unoccupied Jaguar XF in a distressed state, having overturned and come to rest upside down on the sidewalk.
Further inquiry into the incident indicated that the driver, identified as 31-year-old Victor Wong, was operating the vehicle at an excessively high speed, which resulted in him losing control. The car subsequently flipped, colliding with nearby trees and street signs. After the crash, Wong vacated the vehicle and absconded from the location.
Authorities have since charged Wong with reckless driving and failing to promptly report an accident. The investigation into the crash continues as local law enforcement seeks further information.
