Recently, an Exit Door was installed at AVL airport. This was planted in the middle of a shop which oddly didn’t have any walls to begin with. Without stating the obvious, this means that the doors purpose is therefore pointless. As seen below, the door includes an ‘Exit’ logo, complete with a light to highlight this obscure feature. It also comes with a push bar which shows that a fair amount of effort had gone into constructing this door.
Located directly in front of TSA, one local went as far to joking question whether “This door leads to another dimension”, while most of the other social media users questioned its functional purpose.
Elsewhere, others questioned whether the door had ironically been used yet with many speculating that some people would have attempted to pass through it at this point. Although the Asheville Regional Airport is known to be one of the better airports in the country, this is arguably one of the most bizarre sights that you will see throughout the entirety of airports up and down the country. Having said this, it is possible that at some point, a wall could be erected around the shop. Although this may be equally as questionable, for now at least this is arguably the most obscure door in the whole of Asheville.
