Yesterday, a bemused Washington DC resident took to social media to blast food trucks for parking on the crosswalk on the mall. Here, they described the trucks a ‘awful’ and ‘rabid’. This was accompanied by various trucks taking up the road space, including one which covered almost half of the length of a nearby crosswalk. While illegal, it looks as though the food truck may have gotten away with it for the time being at least.
Responding to this, many DC residents also agreed, with one user claiming that these food trucks would rarely sell to locals, but instead would cater to unwitting tourists from out of town. One user even claimed that these trucks had also blocked a traffic lane, and recommended people to report them on 311. Here, they wrote: ‘Please keep reporting them on 311 for parking in a “no parking” zone. Enforcement was quick last time I tried when they were blocking a traffic lane, and a few of them got tickets. Haven’t seen them at that same spot since.’
With this being said, it looks as though its not just the politics that are raging on in the US capital, as there seems to be a beef brewing between locals and rogue food trucks on the city streets.
