A sign recently went viral on social media which called for witnesses after a 70 year old man was bitten by a Pit Bull. According to the sign, 5-7 people witnessed the incident whereby the canine bit the man and knocked him to the ground.
Furthermore, after the dog was separated from the victim, the dog owner walked away. According to the sign, this took place on Sunday, September 8th around 5 PM. Unsurprisingly, this incident has caused upset in Anchorage as it shows that sometimes, dogs are best kept on their leash. This comes weeks after a different sign divided attention regarding dog poop in the area. The sign’s information can be seen in greater detail below and the phone number ‘907-444-2794’ was left for people to contact with any information.
While the fate of the victim is unknown, this story also does the Pit Bull breed no favors either. The negative reputation of Pit Bulls stems from their historical use in dogfighting and aggressive activities, negative media portrayals, breed-specific legislation, and misidentification.
Although many Pit Bull owners will be quick to say that this reputation is unwarranted, it certainly doesn’t help that this incident involved one, and neither does it help that the owner has mysteriously disappeared. For now at least, this case remains unsolved.
