One of Houston’s most beloved coffee shops today announced its shock closure. Before 9 AM, Canary Coffee House took to their Instagram page to write the following caption: ‘Canary is closed. We appreciate the support our small business has received from the community. If we brightened your day even a little bit during the last few years, know you’ve done the same for us. Goodbye Montrose!’
Aside from this, no other reason was given as to why the popular coffee house had closed. On a similar note, the post has also closed the comments section. Unsurprisingly, this news may upset certain locals as the establishment had gained a solid reputation over the past few years.
Located on 1953 Montrose Blvd, the shop had a stellar 4.5/5 star rating on Google across 143 reviews. Since then, its Google status has also changed to ‘permanently closed’. Not only did Canary Coffee House serve coffee but they also specialized in fresh pastries, cakes, and iced drinks. Due to the abrupt nature of the closure, it is not known what will replace the coffee shop or how long this process will take. Nonetheless, for Houstonian coffee fans this closure may be served with a large dose of disappointment.
